Artist Statement

To date my work is about Identity. I believe Identity is both concrete and sometimes fluid.  Core Identity is formed in childhood.  Most people understand by their 30’s who they are as a person.  I also believe that the experiences and relationships we build contribute to the changing fluidity of Identity.  The ability to try on new identity is a central theme in my work. I make work of this nature since I have always had a collective identity with another person, my identical twin sister. As I have become older, I find that trying on new identities has become more difficult. These identities are photographed in the moment.  Much of my current work has been processing a life changing alteration of my Identity that happened in response to a traumatic accident.
